Walkinside DP is delivered with support for MicroStation, AutoCAD, 3ds Max and Maya OBJ.
Walkinside EP supports in addition PDS, PDMS and optional Mechanical CAD file formats.

MicroStation and PDS projects can now be converted through a batch process. Multiple MicroStation design files or PDS DRI files can be selected in the Batch Converter and converted automatically without the need to launch MicroStation or to attach references in one active file for PDS projects.

Multiple VR files can be merged together, assuming they share the same world space. Needless to say, VR models can come from different CAD software.
It is now possible to integrate PDMS database in the VR model and access equipment database information by browsing the object tree or by simply clicking on the equipment. Selecting equipment in the object tree allows sending the camera in front of the equipment in the 3D model
This is maybe the most powerful addition to Walkinside 4.0. It is now possible to assign to each object a link to any kind of external document. This assignment is achieved from inside the Walkinside viewer by simply clicking on objects and giving the name of a web page, the path of a document available on the LAN, or an XML request to access database records everywhere in the world. This can be used to access maintenance procedures, Maximo planning, SAP PM records, Excel spreadsheets, etc.
It is now possible to create scenario involving walking characters, explosions, smoke, 3D sounds and many other events. Each event can be timed as one shot, as looping event or linked to keystroke. The very powerful and easy to use scenario editor opens applications like safety training or more realistic virtual reality applications.
